First Day in Laos

Vientiane, the capital of Laos, with its "huge" 200,000 population, feels like a little town in France. Even for the small size of ISrael, its too little. Maybe like Shderot or Dimona. According to the Lonely Planet, Laos is most famous for being the most bombed country in the world. French, Americans, Capitalists and Communists, all had their interest to get hold of this little piece of land. The French's mark in Laos is: (1) They added the 's' turning the real "Lao" to "Laos". (2) they gave Lao(s) the knowledge of how to make great (!!!) Baguettes. In the middle of this Asian lands, you can have a great sandwich from real French Baguette, or a Coffee with real croissonent - what a nice and unexpected surprise. Laos is very much a mixture between Vietnam & Thailand with lots of influences from the big brother Chine nearby. As such, you can find the cuisine of all those countries flurishing in Laos. Mala found it most interesting to check the Vietnamese cuisine as you can see here.
